CAN-bus Loggers

CAN bus data loggers are specialised devices used to record data from CAN (Controller Area Network) bus systems. These devices capture and store messages transmitted over the CAN bus, allowing for diagnostics, communication, analysis and troubleshooting of system performance. Most often used in automotive, industrial, and other applications involving networked control systems.

Automotive CAN bus data loggers continuously capture and store data from the CAN network. They typically come with significant storage capacity, allowing for long-term data collection. Data loggers support various CAN protocols, including CAN 2.0A, CAN 2.0B, some of them offer real-time monitoring capabilities.

Advanced features of modern CAN bus data loggers:

  • Trigger Functions (CAN loggers can be programmed to start or stop recording based on specific events or conditions on the CAN bus)
  • Power Management (CAN loggers are designed with low-power consumption in mind)
  • Connectivity (CAN loggers include connectivity options such as USB, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or cellular networks)
  • Analysis Software (CAN loggers come with accompanying software for data analysis, which can decode CAN messages, display time-stamped data, and generate reports).
